Did you know that there are hidden toxic chemicals in most horse feeders? Most people are unaware of the dangers in some feeders and the harm they can do to our beloved animals.

Plastics are broken down into 7 levels. http://io9.com/how-to-recognize-the-plastics-that-are-hazardous-to-you-461587850

Most plastics contain chemicals but the ones to especially watch out for are #3, #6, & #7

Plastic #1: Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)

Plastic #2: High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

Plastic #3: Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) AVOID

Plastic #4: Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)

Plastic #5: Polypropylene (PP)

Plastic #6: Polystyrene (PS) AVOID

Plastic #7: Other AVOID

LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) plastics are generally good choices as they transmit no known chemicals into food and are generally recyclable. LDPE: Not known to leach any chemicals that are suspected of causing cancer or disrupting hormones LDPE is considered a low hazard plastic. Look for feeders that are certified food grade safe, non-toxic & BPA free. http://www.kitncaboodle.com.au/horse-pet-products/

BPA stands for bisphenol A. BPA is an industrial chemical that has been used to make certain plastics and resins since the 1960s. BPA is found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. Polycarbonate plastics are often used in containers that store food and beverages, such as water bottles. They may also be used in other consumer goods.
